About

Margaret Kelly is an experienced and caring Clinical Hypnotherapist and Psychotherapist. Though originally born in Victoria, Australia, she moved to Queensland in 1992. After over 25years running a full time Clinical Hypotherapy clinic in Burleigh, she relocated to Gympie in 2021 to continue helping clients in the region.

After initial training in Psychology achieving her BBSc (LaTrobe University) in 1982, Margaret worked in a variety of real life roles, including sales and management, a supervisor and trainer of counsellors for Jenny Craig’s in Australia & the USA, worked in recruitment and as a Corporate Trainer.

Always interested in helping people, she learned alternative techniques of healing before seeing the power and effectiveness of hypnotherapy first hand, after which she gave up her Corporate Training, and has devoted herself to the practice of hypnotherapy ever since. Initially she trained through the Australasian College of Hypnosis and Healing Therapies, obtaining her Diploma of Clinical Hypnotherapy and Post Graduate Diploma in Psychotherapy in 1995. Margaret then continued with intensive training as protégée of seasoned Clinical Hypnotherapist, Mr Tom Johnstone until his passing in 1998.

As co-founder of the Australian College of Clinical Hypnotherapy in 1996, Margaret was the director of this respected and private Queensland College (now also known as the Australian and Pacific College of Clinical Hypnotherapy) that specialised in training mature adults in the practicalities of treating clients with ‘down to earth’ clinical hypnotherapy.

In her  therapeutic practice, Margaret deals with a range of client issues, from smoking to anxiety and stress conditions, drug/alcohol/gambling habits and addictions, and sleep issues. She has worked in the area of peak performance, helping elite athletes prepare for competition and has helped patients prepare for surgery and their post operative recovery. She also helped business owners and other professionals improve their performance and restore quality of life.

Aside from running a full-time practice, Margaret also lectured at the ACHE International Hypnotherapy Conference in Glendale California in 1998, and has held various key positions of responsibility in the profession including as the inaugural President of Hypnotherapy Council of Australia 2011-2018. She is a Professional Clinical Member of the Australian Association of Clinical Hypnotherapy and Psychotherapy (AACHP), and was awarded a Fellowship for her work in the profession.

Margaret is dedicated, passionate and serious about her work. After working with thousands of clients, she still firmly believes that every client is different, and that their therapy must be tailored to their individual needs and circumstances. Her therapeutic training in conjunction with her varied background in the commercial world, and her own life and health challenges, have equipped her with insight and knowledge to successfully deal with a wide variety of clients and their presenting issues.
